'THE VOW' FILMMAKER MARK VICENTE BRINGS FREE SCREENING OF 'NARCISSIST’S PLAYBOOK' TO THE NATIONAL MALL

NXIVM whistleblower available for interviews October 23-25 on his five-year investigation into the tactics of narcissistic abuse.

WASHINGTON DC, DC, UNITED STATES, October 20, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- On Sunday, October 25 at 6:30 p.m., filmmaker Mark Vicente will host a free public screening of his new documentary, “Narcissist’s Playbook: Empathy Not Included,” at the Sylvan Theater on the grounds of the Washington Monument. Vicente will lead a post-screening discussion with experts in the field.

“I am on a mission to expose their tactics so people can clearly see the pattern,” said Vicente.

Best known for HBO’s “The Vow” and “What the Bleep Do We Know!?”, Vicente spent five years filming across seven countries to take viewers inside the minds of malignant narcissists. The film features self-described narcissists openly explaining how they manipulate, survivors who never saw it coming, and leading experts including Dr. Ramani Durvasula and Dr. Heather Berlin. Evan Rachel Wood and director Barry Sonnenfeld also appear.

The film grew out of Vicente’s own experience. A former member of NXIVM, he became one of the whistleblowers who helped expose cult leader Keith Raniere, leading to Raniere’s arrest, conviction and imprisonment.

The subject matter proved too controversial for traditional gatekeepers. Multiple studios and nearly 30 film festivals passed on the film. Rather than shelve it, Vicente and producer Scott Altomare released it independently, funded entirely by survivors. Now translated into 18 languages, the film is building a worldwide audience through word of mouth.
