Vance antagonizes US involvement in Iran-Israel conflict
Sources revealed that Vance voiced his concerns during a tense phone call on Thursday between Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and other senior officials from Washington and West Jerusalem. Netanyahu and his team urged Trump to abandon his two-week deadline for a nuclear deal with Iran and immediately join Israel’s military actions, arguing that the US must act swiftly to use bunker-busting bombs against Iran’s deeply buried Fordow facility.
However, Vance, an Iraq War veteran, pushed back firmly, warning that US involvement risked being dragged into a full-scale war by Israel. Despite standing beside Trump during the president’s televised address announcing the strikes, social media users noted Vance’s uncomfortable and unhappy expression during the event.
In a later interview on NBC News’ ‘Meet the Press,’ Vance clarified that the US desires peace, but only under conditions that prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. He emphasized that if Iran refrains from attacking US forces and abandons its nuclear ambitions, a peaceful relationship with Iran could be possible.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps condemned the US strikes as illegal and vowed “heavy responses,” claiming it has identified the bases of the attacking aircraft.
