Media reports Iranian nuclear scientist along with his family murdered in Israeli assault
This killing is part of Israel’s ongoing campaign against Iranian nuclear experts since launching attacks earlier this month, with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) claiming to have eliminated over a dozen specialists so far. On Tuesday morning, another prominent nuclear scientist, Mohammad Reza Sadighi, was reported killed in a pre-ceasefire strike, making him the 17th such expert targeted, according to Israel’s Channel 9.
The conflict escalated after Israel’s June 13 strikes on Iran, citing concerns over Tehran’s alleged nuclear weapons development—a claim disputed by both the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and US intelligence. Iran denied these accusations and retaliated with its own attacks.
On June 22, the US entered the conflict by launching strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, prompting Iran to respond with missile attacks on a US military base in Qatar. Following these events, US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, which Tehran’s Supreme National Security Council confirmed, while maintaining readiness to respond to any violations.
