Trump criticizes Medvedev
The tensions follow a recent US airstrike on Iran’s nuclear sites in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, which Washington says significantly damaged Tehran’s nuclear program. The strikes came after extensive Israeli air raids on Iran.
Trump posted on his Truth Social platform, questioning whether Medvedev had “casually” mentioned the “N word” (nuclear) and claimed that Russia and other countries might provide nuclear warheads to Iran. He called for immediate confirmation or denial and emphasized that nuclear weapons should not be discussed lightly. Trump also boasted about America’s advanced military capabilities, referencing the recent bombing of Iran as evidence.
Earlier, Medvedev stated on social media that several nations are prepared to supply Iran with nuclear warheads, though he did not name them. He argued that the US attack failed to stop Iran’s nuclear progress and predicted Tehran would emerge stronger. Medvedev also criticized Trump for pushing the US into another conflict, damaging his chances for a Nobel Peace Prize amid global opposition to the US and Israeli actions.
In response to Trump’s remarks, Medvedev clarified that Russia does not intend to supply nuclear weapons to Iran, citing its commitment to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, but said other countries might. He urged Washington to avoid nuclear posturing and highlighted that the New START arms control treaty remains active.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned the US strike on Iran during a meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, labeling it an “unprovoked aggression” that violates international law and is unjustifiable.
